Teen Girl Foils Burglary Attempt

Christi Myers of  KTRK-TV, an ABC News affiliate in Huston TX. Re-reported a John DeLapp of the Galveston Daily News story on a teenage girl in Texas City who “was alone when a pair of intruders broke into her family’s house, but she turned the tables on the suspects by grabbing her father’s handgun.”

Texas City police said it wasn’t a home invasion. They believe it was a burglary and the goal was to steal the family’s truck. But the would-be thieves had a spunky high school freshman standing in their way.

“She says she was in the bathroom showering and when she came out she met two intruders inside her house,” neighbor Anthony Campbell said. “She run and got her dad’s gun. And when she come out, they saw her with the gun and took off.”

My 2 Cents: GOOD GIRL!!!  She not only protected herself, she also put the “fear of God” into a couple of guys who where up to no good in the first place.  Unfortunately, instead of praising this courageous teen, Christi ends her piece with  “Police say people should teach their children to find a safe place to hide when an intruder threatens, and to call 9-1-1 immediately and call their parents second.”  While I understand that the Police have to mouth this Politically Correct Pabulum to the public for legal reasons, I find it sad that the moral of this experience was lost to P.C. B.S.  Thankfully the newspaper story didn’t waste ink on dubious advice.
